Professor and Scopus

It was very interesting when Prof. Syamsu Rizal wrote about professor fate and PhD’s program in Indonesia in KOMPAS, August 20, 2011. With regard to the letter from DGHE a professor who asks for extension of their retirement must produce scientific papers published in international journals that include in the list of Scopus or other reputable scientific material sources. Certainly this requirement turns into high challenges for all those professors and PhD’s who will later become professors too.
What is Scopus?. It is very easy to know about Scopus. Just click google and put the word Scopus in it. We will see a lot of details information about Scopus such as its system, materials, journal’s list as well as writers and so on. For this short explanation, I provide a very short text below.
Scopus on its web confidently said that it is the largest abstract and citation database of research literature. They also showed them self as high quality web sources which covers almost eighteen thousands titles collected from more than five thousands 5,000 publishers. It is an incredible source. They are very serious developing their service platform. They know exactly their target market and then Scopus apps are currently available for BlackBerry , iPhone, and Android.
Technically speaking with details prove, Scopus is at a position of having 45.5 million records, almost 19,500 titles from 5,000 publishers worldwide, includes over 4.6 million conference papers and so on.
Scopus was launched in November 2004. In short they have a position as a service provider that provides their customers mainly researchers a quick, easy and comprehensive resource to support their research needs in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields . In addition they add more resource especially in the arts and humanities.
